Years ago, I struggled as a single mom with two kids. Although I had a good job with a financial institution, I still recall how challenging it was to set any money aside for things other than regular monthly living expenses. I remember one year, I started selling supplements so I could give my kids the Christmas presents they wanted.
I made a conscious decision, at some point, that I would change my thinking to change my situation.
